| Why am I here ? |
Wexham Park Hospital is in Slough (yuck). This is our nearest hospital, and provides me with 'shared care'. What this means is that I get all my 'therapy' at the John Radcliffe, but if I feel sick and ill inbetween times, my local hospital looks after me. This is where I spent the whole of the 2 1/2 weeks after my first chemo
treatment, as I got a nasty infection and felt awful ! yuk yuk yuk.... If I'm in Wexham it means that I need to stay there until my temperature is normal. Do you what normal is ? Its 37.5 degrees. They check this by putting a thermometer under my arm, though the nurses tell me that sometimes they put it up people's bottoms !!! BIG YUK !!!! At least they don't put it under my tongue... At Wexham I tend to be put in a special room (isolation) to stop me from
picking up any infections from other children in the hospital. My Mum
or Dad can stay next to me, and I get my own telly - with a touch screen
! (that means I can chance channel by touching the screen...). There's
even a fridge so daddy can keep his beer and wine in cool !! Love M. X. |
